You have been charged or received a requisition and you have a date for court. Do not delay. The word “adjournment” is almost a dirty word these days in the courts, and you will be expected at the first hearing to know what your plea is, and, where appropriate, whether the case should be heard in the Magistrates’ Court or the Crown Court.
Contact us as soon as you can. We can advise you on whether you may have a defence, the likely sentence, whether you have a choice between the Crown Court and the Magistrates’ Court, and, if so, which is the better venue for your trial, and whether legal aid is likely to be available.
